Have you been to Jack London Square lately?
I was recently in the area getting some business done at our new Oakland office. While I was waiting for contractors and phone installers and the like to show up for our appointment I had some free time and thought I would explore. It had been a few years since I was there and I had no idea how cool it has become. You do still have to go through the downtown Oakland warehouse district, which is having it’s own resurgence, to get to the Square, but WOW that area has even changed quite a bit.
Broadway has lots going on and it totally pedestrian friendly. Awesome dinning right on the water, lots of fun shops and goodies to try. Just watching the sunset and having a cocktail made waiting for everything to get finish and then for traffic to subside before I even attempted to get back on the road super fun.
If you like seafood check out Jacks Oyster Bar and Fish House. Fun food, great drinks and all with an awesome view. Happy hour is a blast and Jack’s has great deals for happy hour. It’s just an awesome way to wrap up the work day or work week.
Yoshi’s Jazz Club is also a great place to spend time late into the evening. There are different bookings each week and they have all their events listed on the website. They also have amazing Japanese food.
If you need a little fresh air, the bay trail is right there. A really cool path along the marina and bay front with flowers a few different mini parks and lot’s of cool people biking, running and out for a stroll.

I even popped into the World Market and found a sweet scarf and piece of Jewelry to wear for the evening. If I had known I would be down for the whole afternoon and into the evening I would have come more prepared.
